The Royal Academy of Arts: Artist in Conversation with Sir Don McCullin CBE
Sir Don McCullin CBE discusses his remarkable 70-year career with Tim Marlow. The talk marked his latest show at Hauser & Wirth New York
Sir Don McCullin began taking photographs during his military service, beginning what would be a life-long commitment to photography. He has worked for major British newspapers during some of the most violent conflicts of the late twentieth-century including Vietnam, Biafra, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Northern Ireland and more recently Iraq and Syria. In recent decades, McCullin has turned his lens to the landscapes of Somerset, and drawn inspiration from the great Flemish and Dutch Renaissance masters for a series of still lifes.
Tim Marlow OBE is Chief Executive and Director of the Design Museum in London. Formerly Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Arts and Director of Exhibitions at White Cube, Marlow has been involved in the contemporary art world for the past thirty years as a curator, writer and broadcaster.
