In this live discussion, Kiefer explored Van Gogh’s profound influence upon the subjects and techniques of his paintings and sculptures, which engage with history, mythology, literature, philosophy and science.
Anselm Kiefer Hon RA is a painter and sculptor whose work navigates the vastness of history and humanity’s collective memory, particularly the political inheritances of post-war Germany.
Simon Schama is an art historian and art critic. He has written over twenty books and has presented more than fifty films on Art and History for the BBC, including the landmark series on the history of world art, Civilisations.
